The first steps are the hardest - take them with friendly, experienced runners who will guide you from zero to 5k
A new Beginners course will be starting in January 2020. This is aimed at anyone who would like to run, you don't need any previous experience!
We'll meet you at 7pm inside Kimberley Leisure Centre. There's a small ramp near the notice boards where you'll spot a run leader
On your first week, we need to capture registration details so please aim to arrive at 6:30-6:45. All runs are on a Thursday at 7pm, the route and details are on the club calendar, all runs are dedicated to the beginner course so you can't accidentally join a club run!
|
The course will be 8 weeks long, with one run a week
As part of the plan we will aim to complete the 3k course at the Colliers Wood Canter on a Saturday morning, then complete the full 5k at Colliers Wood for graduation on Sat 14th March. Graduates will also be invited to the clubs annual awards party at Kimberley Cricket Club to celebrate their achievement. If you want to join the club after that you'll be welcome, but if it's not for you, that's fine too! |
Following graduation you will be welcome to come and join the full club - no obligation, no pressure
Running as a beginner is no fee, no contract, no obligation - you turn up and go at your own pace. We love our sport and want to encourage you to join us too!
Here's what some of our previous graduates have to say about it:
I graduated in June 2016.
When I turned up for the first run of my C25K I couldn't run more than 30 seconds at a time and wanted to give up straight away. I complained the whole way round for weeks! I stuck at it with the help of the very helpful and friendly KADS and haven't looked back since. I have now completed 3 half marathons, lots of 10km races, 107 parkruns, taken part in league cross country (still not keen on that!) run over 1000km for the past 2 years and seen my stress levels drop dramatically. I have made so many friends in the running community and am so glad I didn't give up on the first week! Keep going, it's worth it! |
I did the course with KADS last year (2018) and it was amazing to graduate with them, i didn't think i would be able to run that 5km! They saw me through the 5km, helped me build up to further and faster runs and had me running 2 half marathons by the end of October. The support does not end when couch to 5k does!!
