KADS Club Vision

The most inclusive, enjoyable and supportive running club in the East Midlands.

The above sentence is the vision of our running club. We set it out at the start of 2020 and as you can see from the photo above, we are already a very supportive club, staying to cheer in every runner. But we want it to be more than this, we want this to become the culture of the club and we're working hard to make it become a reality. Part of this work has been to identify what we see as the 'core values' of our members, how we would like people in our club to behave:

RESPECTFUL
  • First or last, we respect the achievement
  • We respect that people can’t attend every race and session
  • If you don’t see eye to eye, it’s OK, but respect the opinion of others

PASSION FOR RUNNING
  • If you’re injured, you cheer from the sidelines, or on social media, or help out run the club
  • Talk about and promote running to people you meet
  • You want others to share that passion too

SUPPORTIVE
  • When things aren’t going well, you offer an arm
  • This might be running related, it could be something at home
  • You have your runners backs

HELP EACH OTHER
  • As well as being supportive help each other on a day to day basis
  • Offer others a lift, help with someones bags.
  • At events - help pitch the club tent, provide part of the buffet, help to get venues set up

DISPLAYS CAMARADERIE
  • See the image on the top of this page - we stay and cheer in every runner
  • You want your fellow KADS to do well
  • You value the team performance as much as, or more than, your own
  • You value the contribution of first or last KAD

This year we've already added an extra training session for our members and are creating a better feedback loop between the members and the committee for ideas and comments. We have also put together a few things that we are looking to implement over the next three years -
  • A place the club can call home
  • Everyone to feel part of a club
  • Varied & stimulating training and social calendar
  • A clear development strategy for members
  • Every club event is safe and clearly understood
  • A strategy to increase professional run coaching of members who want to do this
