The first steps are the hardest.
Take them with friendly, experienced runners who will guide you to 5k.
We're delighted to host KADS Kick Start 2022! This free, ten week course will help anyone new to running, as well as those who have drifted away from running and want to get back into it. Supported by our qualified run leaders Shell and Amy, alongside members from our running club, you'll slowly build up your distance over the ten weeks until you are able to run five kilometres (three miles).
When does the course start? Wednesday 5th January 2022
When does the course end? The course consists of ten weekly runs on Wednesday nights, followed by a graduation timed 5k run on Sunday 13th March at Colliers Wood (NG16 2FF)
Where is it? We'll meet at Kimberley Cricket Club (off Newdigate Street) Kimberley NG16 2NJ
What time do I need to be there? We'll meet from 7.15pm with the run starting after a warm up from around 7.25pm. Each session will last approximately three quarters of an hour.
Where can I park? There is limited parking available at the cricket club, or you can park in the Victoria Street long stay car park.
How much does it cost? The course is completely free.
How do I join? Please register by popping your details into our runtogether event, or you can turn up on the night and we'll help you register.
All graduates who complete the 5k run on Sunday 13th March will receive a certificate. If you have also attended 7 or more of the 10 sessions, you will be rewarded with one year of discounted membership to Kimberley and District Striders to support you with your running.
Here's what some of our previous graduates said:
"When I turned up for the first run I couldn't run more than 30 seconds at a time and wanted to give up straight away. I complained the whole way round for weeks! I stuck at it with the help of the very helpful and friendly KADS and haven't looked back since.
I have now completed 3 half marathons, lots of 10km races, 107 parkruns, taken part in league cross country (still not keen on that!) run over 1000km for the past 2 years and seen my stress levels drop dramatically. I have made so many friends in the running community and am so glad I didn't give up on the first week!
Keep going, it's worth it!"
"I did the course with KADS in 2018 and it was amazing to graduate with them, I didn't think I would be able to run that 5km! They saw me through the 5km, helped me build up to further and faster runs and had me running 2 half marathons by the end of October. The support does not end when couch to 5k does!!"
