Kads Steve shooting to the moon Blog created: 28/04/2024
Steve joins the Kads Marathon club in style!!
Steve has found himself in fine form this year and recently took on the challenge of Ashby 20 to which he took by storm.
From then he decided to ride on a wave and book his debut marathon. Today he fulfilled the dream, finishing in 50th place with a cracking time of 3 hours 54 minutes at the Tissington trail marathon.
A huge well deserved result and hopefully he will continue strongly throughout the rest of the year.

Kads London Takeover! Blog created: 28/04/2024
It seems to be the one race the entire country wants to run yet only a few 50,000 get the chance. Today we had 9 lucky Kads on course who fulfilled the dream of many.
We had club chairman both past ( Paul Nicholls ) and present ( Ryan stocks ) both making the London Debuts.
We had the ever inspiring Jason Buckley making it back to back London appearances.
We had a marathon debut in Neil Sumner , what a cracker for your first one.
We had Sarah-jane Louise out there raising money for a very worthy cause with a whole support crew. Close friend Kirstie Dodsley also put in a cracker of a run with smiles all round on course.
We had our Kads ballot winner Francesca Elver-Fiddimore also soaking in the atmosphere with a great performance.
We had super Stuart Laurie who made it back to back sub 3 marathons after last year's heroics at the Manchester Marathon
And we had Leigh Turner who soaked up the atmosphere and also the local ale whilst on course?? A proper day out that we hope the rest of our running family from other clubs we race against, people we see at the Kimberley & District Striders presents The Colliers Wood Canter or parkrun UK that took on TCS London Marathon today we hope it was a special one.

Kads Kick off the summer season in style! Blog created: 28/04/2024
The summer league kick started over at Teversal and Kads had some new debutants to kick off the show. It was great to see the likes of Hayley Purdy, James Mo, Nick Tennant and Matt Hammond. It was a cracking turnout and always a pleasure to see the club being represented in a positive light, even the Marshall calling home the finishes kept commenting on our overwhelming support for all runners.
A solid base to start from as we head ever closer towards the grueller at Cromford in May.

Returning faces brings light on the Colliers Wood Canter Anniversary milestone event Blog created: 28/04/2024
After months of planning Kads kicked off the canter 10 year anniversary in special fashion. The cry to have our original directors were heard as Sue and Paul made the special trip back to Kimberley for the event. They were also followed by long standing members and honory members in the way of Paul Nicholls, Kev Rogers, Glen Weston, Dave Saunders, Shell Chauhan, David Dickinson and Jason Riley. They were joined by canter regulars including Kev, Chris and Nigel to name a few, a large gathering of junior runners and some of our very own Kads.
After the event many gathered for a post race breakfast at the Lady Chatterley, Eastwood to cap off a great morning and celebration.

Canter sees bumper turnout ahead of milestone event Blog created: 11/02/2024
The February Colliers Wood Canter received a much needed boost with a turnout of 50 runners. Their are making working tirelessly behind the scenes to rejuvenate what has been, in recent times a lacklustre event. You could see we were onto a winner when they gathered at the start line, 5k course holder and 5k January winner both amongst the crowd was great to see. Also what was very encouraging to see was the amount of youngsters taking part in the 3k event. There were genuine smiles on the faces of everyone involved in hosting the event and has grown huge confidence ahead of what we believe will be a special day on Sunday 17th March as we celebrate 10 years of the canter.
Kads recapture the magic as they return to the foodbank Blog created 07/02/2024
Kads turned out a big crowd as they returned to the foodbank in 2024. They assembled at The Kimberley Cricket Club with donations ready to go and headed towards Eastwood. It was a pleasure once again to see the whole club running at one pace, something we don't get to do very often throughout the year.
Spirits were high and laughs were shared all round before heading back to the cricket club for chip cobs and a social.
I'm sure we'll be visiting very soon

Could we see more Kads head to foreign soil in 2024?: Blog created 21/01/2024
Kads have a very strong Prescence at Parkrun, with large crowds attending regular across a solid 5 routes, we've also seen in very recent times members take a coach down to the famous Bushy Park.
Yet now Kads have appeared taking in Ireland, Germany and now Sweden. Could this be a new trend that see more Kads head to EasyJet? or better yet a Kads weekend break?

Canter brings new surprises ahead of it's milestone year: Blog created 09/01/2024
It's a special year for The Colliers Wood Canter as we head towards celebrating 10 years of this family friendly event.
Being on the committee since October 2023 I've seen first hand the difficulties The Canter has had, with sometimes only reaching numbers as high as 20, which leaves us scratching our heads and wondering what to do next.
Dan Gooch is the latest Race Co-Ordinator to have a go at rejuvenating The Canter and his latest email he sent out outlines some inventive ideas, incorporating a club favourite, The Kads TT into the mix. Ideas also include Canter milestones and a social gathering breakfast afterwards, what's not to like about that?
It might not be the clubs beloved Parkrun but it does see regular faces turn up each month for a run and a social, and also publicises our club for free and attracts new members each year. And is I'm typing this we have 2 new taster try outs joining us this week , both who attended the Canter on Sunday.
So lets celebrate our 10th Anniversary in style with as many Kads members in attendance throughout the year!

What's instore for 2024?: Blog created 01/01/2024
Kads had a great 2023 and it would be foolish of me to start name dropping each individual and collective achievement at the fear of missing someone off.
Having the role as web and communications manager has given me a front row seat into all of the great stuff you've been achieving with the club. The club offers so much to people with not every member wanting the same goal. Some love it to improve mental health, I think this shouldn't be underestimated, there's nothing better than putting on you trainers and getting out for a run in the fresh air, whether that be alone or with friends. Then you have the huge parkrun following, breaking pb's, milestones and socialising with one another on a weekly basis, what a great way to head into the weekend. Then you have the club league races which has seen debuts in not only new members but some longer serving members dipping there toe in. And to finish all the way up to those mad Marathon chasers and even crazier Ultra nuts. This year has seen huge improvements in the development of runners and the praise has to go towards the run leaders and head coach for the great sessions they've put on and with the numbers attending regular on club nights shows that the members are engaged.
So what to expect from 2024? More of the same hopefully! Races to look out for in 2024 Offers a list of the events Kads have been attending in 2023, a lot of these events are regularly pencilled in each year by our club members so if you're fairly new to the club and want to get amongst it I'd suggest speaking on club nights to your fellow teammates regarding the events you are looking at.
Tonight will see the first of many sessions for the year, starting with a hill session with Ryan over at Cat-O-Tel so get the legs turning over early into the New Year.
So I'll leave you with this,
Enjoy your running, continue to develop those friendships, support one another in reaching your goals and always remember to have fun.
Happy New Year,
Aston
