Kads kickstarted the month of February in style. Over 30 club members congregated at the Kimberley Cricket club ahead of the run to Eastwood Foodbank.
A newly formed group called the Food bank run came up with the great idea of encouraging running clubs up and down the country to take part in there own Foodbank run within the month of February. All runners arrived with headtorches and rucksacks full of pasta, tin goods, biscuits just to name a few. The highlight of the night was seeing all the club members of all different abilities running together as one all the way up to the foodbank at Eastwood. The 5 mile(ish) all round journey witnessed a ray of lights heading all the way up to Eastwood, I've seen less lights on a Christmas tree. The atmosphere was great, the smiles were big and most importantly the cause of the run was a huge success. Once the group arrived back at the cricket club there was already talk of doing it again next year so watch this space.

This week was the final week of our KADS Kick Starters programme. Back in January over 50 people joined us for the first night of our 10 week course for those new to running, or wanting to get back into it.
Several Kick Starters decided to join KADS that first week, while others have progressed through the weeks going from running for a minute with a minute walking, to running just under 5km without stopping. They've braved freezing temperatures, and dark nights but have pushed on, turning up each week to run with us. The Kick Starters who have finished the whole course will graduate at our March Colliers Wood Canter when the complete a full 5km race on Sunday 13 March at 9am. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in, or cheer them on. Congratulations to all of our Kick Starters, it has been a pleasure to see you improve each week and we can't wait to see you cross the finish line on Sunday. |
